Quarterly
- Test exit and emergency lighting - press the test button, confirm 90 minutes of battery
- Test every GFCI in kitchens, restrooms and outdoor areas
- Walk the space for damaged cords, overloaded strips and blocked panels
- Confirm 36 inches of clear working space in front of every panel
Annually
- Thermal scan of panels and disconnects to find loose or hot terminations before they fail
- Torque check on main lugs and breaker terminals
- Verify the panel directory matches reality - it almost never does after a fit-out
- Inspect motor circuits, contactors and starters on HVAC and refrigeration
- Check grounding and bonding, especially after any plumbing work
- Review load on each phase and rebalance if one is running hot

- Missing or unreadable panel labelling
- Storage stacked in front of electrical panels
- Junction boxes with no covers above ceiling tiles
- Extension cords used as permanent wiring
- Kitchen equipment on shared circuits instead of dedicated ones
- Exit lights with dead batteries
